BENEFITS OF DRINKING MILK DAILY

With age the importance of milk is not realized by the people. Most people think that milk is just for the kids and elderly which is a very wrong connotation. Milk is very vital to our body and is important in our system.

Milk being a good nutritional source of calcium, high vitamin content from milk  is helpful in building healthy, strong and big bones.
Milk is full of nutrients that our body requires to operate properly. It contains calcium, vitamins, phosphorus, carbohydrates, magnesium, riboflavin, potassium, protein and zinc.

The benefits of drinking milk are:

1. Migraines:
Milk has been proved to help reduce the effects of migraine headaches.

2. Milk Helps You Lose Weight:
Even milk that has not been skimmed or fat-reduced may have a slimming effect. A number of studies have shown that people actually lose fat if they increase their milk intake. The studies are still a bit controversial.

3. Muscles:
Some new research with weight lifters has shown that milk helps build more muscle and at the same time actually lose fat! Another study showed that milk is more beneficial and effective for recovery after an intense workout than even sports drinks. High performance athletes are now drinking milk as part of their daily routines straight after intense workouts for muscle recovery and growth.

4. Protein:
Milk is an excellent source of protein and each glass of milk contains about 8.1 g of protein, which is important for building amino acids in the body.
Adding milk to morning cereal or oatmeal is helpful to a solid start to the day. Milk may be added to a smoothie to boost the creaminess and the nutrition.

5. Cardiovascular Health:
Drinking milk will also help lower blood pressure and aid in general heart health.

6. Bone Health:
An obviously known fact is that calcium is important for bone health and is especially important for children, whose bones are still growing.

7. Milk Helps You Stay Healthy:
Studies have shown milk to be beneficial for kidney and heart disease. Furthermore, it may help reduce the risk of stroke and colon cancer. Milk also has some anti-inflammatory properties that may help alleviate the suffering of people with digestive inflammatory diseases. It is thought that the protein, vitamin D, magnesium and calcium content gives milk these additional health benefits.

8. Osteoporosis:
Milk builds strong bones and teeth where about 99 percent of the body's calcium is stored.  Studies have shown that calcium in milk helps improve bone density. Denser bones mean less likelihood of stress fractures and a lower risk of osteoporosis. Consuming milk regularly can greatly reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

9. Teeth:
Drinking milk can protect teeth from decays and cavity problems.

10. Heartburn:
Milk is a very good antacid! Drinking a glass of milk when you experience heartburn can calm your esophagus from inflammation. Drinking milk regularly will prevent heartburn and other gastric problems.

11. Nails:
The calcium and vitamins in milk helps nails & hair grow strong and shiny.

12. Sleep:
A good bedtime routine really helps to fall asleep and stay asleep better. Poor sleep impairs the metabolism and   increase your risk of chronic diseases. Drinking a hot glass of milk before bedtime soothe the nerves and relax   tense muscles putting one off to sleep immediately.

13. Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS):
Milk drastically reduces PMS symptoms.
14. Brain

The study, published in the International Dairy Journal, showed adults who consumed dairy products at least five or six times a week did far better in memory tests compared with those who rarely ate or drank them.

The researchers said: ‘New and emerging brain health benefits are just one more reason to start each day with low-fat or fat-free milk.’

TIPS FOR INCORPORATING MORE MILK INTO YOUR DAY

1. START YOUR DAY WITH MILK
Add milk to your morning cereal or oatmeal. Seems like the oldest tip around, but still a great, solid start to the day. You can also add milk to a smoothie to boost the creaminess and the nutrition.

2. DRINK MILK AS A SNACK
Milk is perfect as an afternoon snack – a great balance of quality protein and carbohydrates, mildly sweet and lots of nutrition.

3. CHANGE YOUR COFFEE HABIT
Have a café au lait or tea au lait instead of a latte. A café au lait is 1/2 coffee and 1/2 milk, giving you that coveted coffee taste and enjoyment, while reducing your caffeine content and increasing the beverage's nutritional value with the additional milk.

4. TAKE THE EDGE OFF YOUR HUNGER
Before a party, have a glass of low-fat or fat-free milk. It's fast and easy. It's also filling and "takes the edge off" hunger, helping you make smarter choices on food and drink once you arrive.

5. DRINK MILK FOR DESSERT
Low-fat or fat-free chocolate or strawberry milk has the sweetness and appeal of a treat and still contains those essential vitamins and minerals that are lacking from processed baked goods, cookies, candy or other 'usual' treats.

6. MILK IS AN EXCELLENT POST-EXERCISE BEVERAGE
Recent research suggests that the balance of nutrients in milk can help refuel the muscles after a workout as effectively as some commercial exercise beverages.

7. HAVE MILK BEFORE BED
A good bedtime routine can really help you fall asleep and stay asleep better. Poor sleep can impair your metabolism and may increase your risk of chronic diseases.

8. BEFORE YOU DRINK IT, LIFT IT
Milk can give you strong bones and muscles!
